- Newly declassified material from Wyden and Heinrich revealed a massive data collection operation on Americans yesterday.
- The letter from Wyden and Heinrich reveals the OPCL (Office of Privacy and Civil Liberties) and their trove of data regarding Americans.
- Wyden and Heinrich also called for more transparency regarding the CIA and other such agancies to be “more transparent”

In a statement regarding the matter senators Wyden and Heinrich said, “what these documents demonstrate is that many of the same concerns that Americans have about their privacy and civil liberties also apply to how the CIA collects and handles information under executive order and outside the FISA law. In particular, these documents reveal serious problems associated with warrantless backdoor searches of Americans, the same issue that has generated bipartisan concern in the FISA context.”
