Harrison Hill Smith is a man that was denied lifesaving treatment for covid-19 yesterday for having the wrong skin color. He contracted covid-19 and sought out medical assistance using this lifesaving medical treatment when he was denied it because he didn’t meet the right ‘Qualifications’. The Qualifications being testing positive for covid-19, showing symptoms, and apparently being black/ Hispanic. How this is not a violation of the 1964 civil rights act and the equal protection clause of the first amendment among many things is anyone’s guess. ANN asked for comment from multiple DSHS representatives and received no comment. A video from Dave Reilly bellow show’s the representative saying “Their are Eligibility criteria that we go by,”and that African American/ Hispanic groups are “High Risk Ethnicity groups”. “We are Prioritizing more vulnerable people, so people who have an underlying medical condition, but along with that people who have a BMI of 25 or higher, or High Risk Ethnicity Groups can get it”.
This Prioritization of ethnicity groups some argue, is the textbook definition of discrimination.
