A Texas district attorney in Tyler County last week claimed that the Netflix film ‘Cuties‘ (an American adaptation of the French film Mignonnes) amounts to child pornography as reported by the Hollywood Reporter. The Netflix film at the center of this controversy has already been a part of a similar controversy with people calling to cancel their Netflix subscriptions over the film. The plot of the film features a underage child who tries to escape her religious family via ‘untraditional’ and ‘sexualized’ dance.
In 2020 Netflix issued an apology for this.
We’re deeply sorry for the inappropriate artwork that we used for Mignonnes/Cuties. It was not OK, nor was it representative of this French film which won an award at Sundance. We’ve now updated the pictures and description.
