A YouTube channel named MamaMax with nearly 700,000 subscribers posted an exposé on YouTube’s nonsensical rules and editorial policies that prevent creators from exposing “Sensitive Material”. This exposé features numerous content creators on the platform expressed their concern’s and pleading with the platform to fix it.
The Following is what they have to say:
“YouTube messes with me all the time. I remember one time I got three [Copyright] strikes, the banned me, I appealed and said “hey this is unfair” they said nope and rejected my appeal.”
“I’ve learned a long time ago that you simply cannot trust google. They still delete my videos. I really hate saying it but I do not have pride in YouTube anymore. The mother of censorship is completely disheartening. Especially when people may need to see this content”
“If their is something that the internet has shown us time and time again. In regards to independent investigations it’s that the average person can notice something that an investigator might miss the first or second time. As such investigative content should really be encouraged.”
“YouTube is censoring us all and blatantly ignoring the good that comes from heavily investigated content. The awareness that spreads from such videos are immense. Is that not a good thing though? It honestly feels like YouTube is trying to protect these F***ed up people and that’s not okay.”
“Personally I don’t think YouTube ever cared about any of us. They only care if you’re one of their poster child’s but most importantly you have to be incredibly Ad friendly. Even 100% innocent channels are getting completely destroyed. I’ve dealt with it myself multiple times.”
This sentiment echoed throughout both the 30 minute video and the 30 YouTuber’s featured in the exposé. YouTube is not a place for independent creators.
